Mahjong Dojo is a free iPhone and iPad app that teaches Hong Kong (Cantonese) mahjong from your very first tile. Earn seven belts in the Dojo, then practice with daily puzzles, flashcards, a full rule book, and real games against three bots.

Common questions

Which rules does it teach?
Hong Kong mahjong only: 144 tiles with flowers and seasons, chow, pung and kong, faan scoring and a minimum faan to win. It doesn't cover Riichi, American mah jongg or Chinese Official rules.

My table uses a different minimum.
Open Settings in the app and set the minimum faan your table plays with.

How do I turn the sound off?
Tap the speaker in the top-left corner of any Dojo lesson, or use Settings > Sound effects.

Will I lose my progress on a new phone?
Your progress syncs through your own iCloud account. Sign in to the same Apple Account on your new device and it comes along.

Does it cost anything?
No. Mahjong Dojo is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases.
